» Artist's resume

Maker's statement: These objects, made of clay and fired to permanency take a lot of time and labour. Time and labour you would be wise to spend elsewhere if it wasn't worth it. It's worth it to me. If in only a few examples the surface of ambiguity, unpredictability and variation adds to the form, integrates the piece, binds all those variables, then it's worth it. If I'm fortunate, there may be an extended appeal, or a growing one. As with humans it's our differences, our variations that capture extended interest. It might be nice to work more predictably, but the interest wouldn't last. Humans seem to need challenges, need problems to solve, (why else have we made such a mess). This is a challenge for me, to bring these variables together, to get them to congeal, to have reference, but some autonomy. There may be a challenge there for you too.
