Maker's statement: My current work, which has developed from my Master of Art studies, is an exploration into the contemporary interpretation of naturally generated glaze effects found only in traditional woodfiring techniques. I use a mixture of porcelain, stoneware and earthenware juxtaposed in individual pieces to create tension, cracking and varied responses to specific locations within the kiln. This produces work with a unique form, texture and depth of surface, often closely related to natural landforms as aesthetic environments which form a source of stimulation and inspiration.
