» Artist's resume

Maker's statement: My major interest is in firing domestic ware in a bourry box sprung arch kiln and long firings in an anagama kiln. I also fire small kiln with diesel oil. The effects I am trying to achieve range from those subtle but complex results typical of anagama firing through to classic glazes such as shino, tenmoku, celadon, and ash. The reasons I make pots are a fascination with fire, a desire to make things with my hands that will enrich and bring joy to the lives of the people who use them, interest in geology and chemistry in the mixing of glazes, and research of local material to include in glazes and clay bodies.
