Maker's statement: After a period of experimentation with Australian native timbers in our anagama we have settled down to firing with a combination of two species, and are now consolidating the exploitation of different natural ash effects in various parts of the kiln. One of the woods we use produces prodigious amounts of natural ash glaze in a relatively short period so we pay a lot of attention to close packing and shielding the work. Experimentation with a period of reduction during the cooling cycle continues.
